BEST HIGH END FOUNDATIONS

There are a lot of extremely good, high quality foundations that can be found in your local drugstore, but I’m a firm believer that if one makeup item is worth investing in, it would be your foundation. It’s the first thing people see, is the base of your makeup and will either make or break the rest of your look... I have narrowed down 5 of my favourite high end foundations that, I think, are worth investing in!

Firstly, there’s the ‘Genius Gel Super Charged Foundation’ by Marc Jacobs, which retails at £32. Although the product has a hefty price tag and small bottle, the foundation itself is extremely long wearing and doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients like parabens or artificial perfumes, making it perfect for sensitive skin. This product is best suited for those of you with oily skin as its oil free, so keeps your skin shine free throughout the day. The buildable product applies evenly and leaves your skin looking and feeling smooth. The product also contains an anti-ageing formula, so you’re essentially getting 2 in 1…

Next I have the ‘All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation’ by NARS which also retails at £32. I have been wearing this product since starting university and I love it! It has an extremely high coverage, and is super easy to blend using a buffing brush... It doesn’t feel heavy or cakey and has a very liquid consistency which glides right on. Beauty bloggers and youtubers have been loving this product for years, so I had extremely high expectations, and it’s safe to say that it didn’t disappoint!

I also love the ‘Skin Foundation Stick’ by Bobbi Brown which costs £29.50. This is the most natural product of them all and is better for everyday use. It’s lightweight, creamy and blends out very easily! The product isn’t very buildable but still does a great job of covering up redness, blemishes and acne scars. I also love that the product is small and portable, perfect for us makeup lovers who take our makeup with us everywhere, in case we need to top it up.

My newest addition is the ‘Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation’ by Smashbox which is the cheapest alternative, retailing at £29. Not only is the product designed to look flawless on photos (perfect for those of us who are insta-obsessed), but it mattifies your skin and is also water and sweat resistant... This product is absolutely amazing; I really can’t fault it!

Last but not least, I have the ‘Airflash Diorskin’ by Christian Dior which is £33.50. This product is completely unique as it’s a spray formula which gives you an airbrushed, photoshopped look with a glowy, radiant and dewy finish. The product is buildable, but you have to be careful not to apply too much as it can look cakey. The best thing about this product is that the application is quick and easy, and doesn’t require any brushes. The texture is extremely luxurious, but the packaging lets it down as I feel it looks slightly cheap.

If you’re looking to buy a new foundation and are willing to splurge, then these foundations are worth it! Head to a Sephora if you’re on holiday or go into your local John Lewis or Debenhams to see if they have the products in stock. I’m sure the staff will also be happy to help find your perfect shade and will give you more information about the products!

  1. Nars Sheer Glow and Armani Luminous Silk are some of my favourite high end foundations but I love the sound of the Airflash Diorskin. I will have to give that a try next! I completely agree that it's worth spending a little more on your base products though and really think it makes a difference x
